Acts of Deceit – Gosforth’s Fete

As we approach our opening night, we thought you might appreciate a sneak peek at each of our three “Acts of Deceit”.

Gosforth’s Fete by Alan Ayckbourn is a hugely popular and oft-performed short farce. It has all the classic ingredients of a little scandal, a little deceit, a vicar and an event on the point of collapse. Gosforth, the local publican, is organising a village fete to be opened by a local councillor. Gosforth is the “go to” man in the village who can sort you out with just about anything. However today his plans unravel as the brownie pack leader and scout pack leader have a bit of a crisis, partially caused by Gosforth himself. This of course has to be kept from the councillor and the rest of the attendees at the fete, but this is a bit tricky due to technology and weather conditions. This results in an hilarious climax of tea in the tea tent , speeches, recriminations and inebriation!

Alongside Gosforth’s Fete you will also be seeing Interior Designs by Jimmie Chinn and Cupboard Love by Jean McConnell (more on them to come!).
