In this beguiling two-part thriller from master playwright Alan Ayckbourn, a woman believes she overhears a murder being planned. But has she really? Or is it all in her mind? True or false, she has seen events which threaten the life of one she secretly loves, and she feels they are in terrible danger. What can she possibly do or say to prevent things happening, and who will even believe her?

I Do Not Like Thee Doctor Fell

Here is our new production for 6th,7th, 8th and 9th March 2024

This fantastic comedy by Bernard Farrell introduces us to Suzy who is running a group therapy with a difference, the participants are locked in until tomorrow morning! The five (or is it 4 or 6!) participants are encouraged to “Relax, Relate, Communicate” and share their experiences and problems. Some are only too willing to take part, where others are more guarded and in some cases in denial! Marriages are dissected, destroyed and reconstructed. Childhood experiences are examined, relived and mocked. The end result is a hilarious mix of unusual characters who are placed in a situation where the ridiculousness of it all is only matched by the interpersonal conflicts.

Though he’s lauded in the media as a military hero, Murray is remembered less fondly by many in his old village. He left amidst rumours of arson, unplanned pregancy and stealing his best friend’s girlfriend. So when he returns, 27 years later, with a new wife in tow, he creates trouble from the beginning – not least with his ex-fiancee. As more secrets emerge and old scores are settled, the village is drawn into the crossfire.

Contains strong language and adult themes.

And A Little Love Besides – July 2022

Here is our new production for July 2022

AALLB - a5 poster

The Friday Fellowship meets every week to organise the activities of their Parish. Their world is filled with bazaars and rummage sales and organising church fetes until an “unfortunate incident”. Mr Briggs, the leader of the committee and of the church youth club, is accused of having “touched” a girl. This brings some surprising reactions from this group of “Christians” and gives an insight into the true nature of morality, forgiveness and love for one’s fellow man. Set in the early 1970’s the message is relevant to every age making this a genuinely funny and touching play.

We are back! New season and new production!

After a 2 year long absence we are back with a great play to entertain you all this winter

POsterImage

Roland, a hard drinking tycoon, is considering buying an old Victorian house, once a brothel. His solicitor and the vendor, a builder, arrive to complete the deal. Also in the house are his wife, a frustrated dancer who is always considering leaving him, her brother and later the brother’s fiancee, who is uncertain whether or not to run away. In the course of one hectic night and morning, with continual running up and downstairs and in and out of rooms, these characters, each immersed in a personal problem, try to sort themselves out. All this takes place in a highly ingenious and original setting in which all the rooms, passages and stairs are on a single level.

Neighbourhood Watch

Don’t worry we haven’t branched out into community security, instead it is the title of our next production, Neighbourhood Watch by Alan Ayckbourn. We will be performing this on Wednesday 28th Feb, Thursday 1st March, Friday 2nd March and Saturday 3rd March at Albrighton Primary School. Tickets are £8 for adults and £7 for concessions and you can buy them here. Early booking is essential as this play is in the round which means you are right up close with the actors and seating is limited.

Brother and sister Martin and Hilda Massie live together, leading a quiet, Christian existence in the confines of the Bluebell Hill Development. Just as they are preparing for a housewarming gathering, their peace is shattered by a young trespasser in their garden. The Massies’ neighbours congregate in their living room and together they agree to form a neighbourhood watch group to safeguard against further incidents. What begins as a well intentioned scheme for a safe community ends up unravelling relationships all over the estate. A delightful mix of hilarity and drama make this a funny and thought –provoking production.

New Season – New Productions!

We had a fantastic 2016/17 season and now we plan to have an even better 2017/18 season. For the first time we have planned out our entire season in advance. We think this gives us great stability as a group and helps us choose a more varied programme to entertain you, the audience.

First up this year will be It Runs in the Family by Ray Cooney. This rip-roaring farce will run from 8th-11th November 2017.

Secondly we are performing in the round once again and will present Neighbourhood Watch by Alan Ayckbourn from 28th Feb – 3rd March 2018.

Finally we will return to Theatre on the Steps with the classic dark sharp comedy Abigail’s Party by Mike Leigh from 31st May – 2nd June 2018.

We hope you agree that we have selected a broad range of comedy there from the fast and furious through to more thoughtful dark and instrospective fare.

More info to follow and tickets on sale soon!
