Two by Jim Cartwright

A slice of pub life… A fantastically funny play with a heart.

Set in a northern pub in the 90s, Jim Cartwright’s Two unfolds over a single evening as we see the flotsam and jetsam of life roll in and out of the doors. Behind the bar, a bickering landlord and landlady hold court, while a steady stream of regulars paint a series of vignettes with sharp humour and tenderness. An affectionate ode to public houses, Two celebrates the beating heart of the community, a space in society where people come to flirt, fight, laugh, bicker and grieve. Whilst it is, at heart, an immensely funny play, Two isn’t afraid to show us a more bitter sweet side to life as the landlord and landlady confront a buried past.
